Tata Motors Borrows $3B to Fund Jaguar Land Rover Deal

India’s Tata Motors has secured a loan for $3 billion from Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase to finance its acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motors. The deal could close as early as next week.
The loan is larger than the $2 billion estimated value of the deal. Tata Motors is believed to need additional money to fund production of its new Nano car, the cheapest car in the world.
Tata may require assistance when it comes to running the new companies, and may rely on Fiat. Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Motors sits on the board of Fiat.
